Renting from abroad without getting caught out
Never pay a deposit unseen
Rental scams almost always ask for a deposit to "hold" a flat you haven't viewed. Get it viewed first.
Check who owns it
In Spain you can request a Nota Simple from the land registry to see the registered owner.
Use traceable payment
Avoid cash transfers and crypto. Pay deposits into a named account after signing a contract.
