Frequently asked questions
Booking a check
What is a holiday rental check?
A local checker visits the villa, apartment or holiday let you're thinking of booking, confirms it exists and matches the listing, and sends you photos, video and a written verdict before you pay the balance.
Which booking sites can you check?
Any of them: Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, holiday rental agencies, private owners advertising on Facebook or their own website. If there's an address, a checker can visit it.
How much does a check cost?
Each checker sets their own price. You see their starting price on their profile, and they confirm the final price for your property before you pay.
When does the checker get paid?
Only after you approve the report. Until then your payment is held by our payment provider.
What if no checker covers my destination?
Search your destination first. If no checker covers it yet, get notified when one joins, or contact us and we'll look for someone nearby. If a checker accepts but can't complete the visit in time, you get a full refund.
Can you check a hotel room?
Yes, although hotels rarely fake their existence. Most people book us for villas, apartments and private holiday lets, where the risk is higher.
Can you check a long-term rental or a flat I want to rent abroad?
Yes. Students, people relocating and remote workers use us to view a flat on their behalf before signing or paying a deposit. See our property viewing service abroad.
Payment and refunds
How does the escrow payment work?
When a checker accepts your request, you pay through our payment provider. The money is held until you approve the report, then released to the checker.
What if I'm not happy with the report?
Tell us within 72 hours what's missing. The checker can return to complete it, or we refund you if it can't be fixed.
Which payment methods do you accept?
Major debit and credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Checkers
Who are the checkers?
Local people with a reason to know properties: travel agents, tour guides, hospitality staff, estate agents and property managers. Every checker passes an ID check and a trial assignment.
Can I choose my checker?
Yes. Search your destination, compare checkers' profiles and prices, and book the one you prefer.
Who sets the price?
Each checker sets their own price. Checkerist takes a commission from the checker's side, so the price you see is the price you pay.
How do I become a checker?
